Real-world consumption is often a bit higher than the official figure, especially for city driving or a loaded car, so nudge the number up if you want a more conservative estimate.
The official WLTP consumption figure printed in a car's brochure is measured under controlled lab conditions, and day-to-day driving rarely matches those conditions. Short trips where the engine never fully reaches operating temperature, cold weather with the heater or air conditioning running, a fully loaded car, or an aggressive driving style can all push real-world consumption 10-20% above the spec sheet number. If your actual fuel receipts consistently show more than this calculator predicts, that gap — not a fault with the calculator — is usually the reason.
Convert it first: liters per 100 km = 100 divided by your km-per-liter figure. For example, 15 km per liter becomes 100 ÷ 15 ≈ 6.67 liters per 100 km.
